Beverly was born on Sunday
Bells were ringing loud outside
Mamma couldn’t hear the preacher
Whose job it is to teach her
How to handle a new life
Well life has just begun
And with a house she needs to run
The future’s bright but don’t look easy
Everything is fine
Beverly is crying
Only Momma’s wishing she could find
A little bit of consolation and some peace of mind
Every day is like a Monday
At least the ones that end in “Y”
Pappa seldom is around
He’s working outta town
And probably will be for life
But attitude is king
Momma knows to sing
The hymns of life and jubilation
While humming ‘It is Well’
Only time will tell
If her man will see the ties that bind
They give …
A little bit of consolation and some peace of mind
Consolation
